Like that of the United States, New Jersey Government is divided into three equal branches: the legislative, the executive, and the judicial. Legislature seeks to enact laws. The Executive Branch carries out the programs pre-established by law. The Judiciary punishes violators, settles controversies and disputes, and is the final authority on the meaning of said laws.
